As there is little evidence about how doctors maintain their own health as they age, the research evidence from this small-scale project is significant.

The project report notes that both the Australian population and its medical workforce are ageing. In 2012, of the 79,653 medical practitioners employed in medicine in Australia, roughly 26.5% were older than 55 years.

Therefore how doctors experience and adapt to the ageing process and identifying what these brain and physical changes are is important.
