Having a workforce that understands and can respond to a changing aged care environment, where consumer choice and expectations of high-quality care are the norm, requires innovation in the way care is delivered.
CDPC research teams have evaluated the aged care workforce in a variety on contexts. This development and review of innovative programs has provided a body of evidence-based recommendations, and information about building a sustainable aged care workforce.

Intervene – pain assessment
People with dementia experience pain like everyone else. However, as a result of their dementia they may be unable to communicate their pain. This can lead to incorrect diagnosis and treatment and reduced quality of life for the resident.
Improving care through staff
Understanding of the relationship between staff and organisational variables with the quality of care provided, and quality of life for residents, is useful to establish which variables are important, the relative importance of the variables, and therefore, where it is most useful to intervene in order to increase quality of life for people with dementia.
